Overview

Noctara is a calm, cloud-first market companion for keeping an eye on the companies you care about — without turning your screen into a trading terminal.

Status: The web app is live. Desktop releases are in progress.

Noctara is 100% free. No subscriptions. No ads. No paywalls. You’ll never be asked for payment info anywhere in the site or app.

A full-suite research + portfolio workspace

Noctara is built for end-to-end investing workflows: research, portfolio management, journaling, and long-term tracking. You can manually build out portfolios, track performance and key metrics, see top movers and changes, and monitor unrealized gains / P&L — with features continuing to expand over time.

What you can do without Cloud Sync

  • Research: search and open tickers for price, ranges, and related news.
  • News: browse headlines and open articles.
  • Notifications (local): set alert thresholds and cooldowns — stored in your browser for this device.

Cloud Sync (required for the full app)

To use the full Noctara experience, you’ll need to link Cloud Sync. Cloud Sync unlocks saving and organizing your data across sessions and devices.

  • Without Cloud Sync: research + news + notifications only (saved locally).
  • With Cloud Sync: Watchlist, Portfolios, trade logging, Pinboard, exporting, journaling, and saving become available.

To link Cloud Sync: Account → Cloud Sync.

What Cloud Sync unlocks

  • Watchlist + Portfolios: create and organize symbols across multiple portfolios.
  • Portfolio management: track performance, totals, changes, top movers, and unrealized gains / P&L — with more analytics added over time.
  • Trade journal: log buys, sells, shorts, and covers with date/time, fees, and notes.
  • Pinboard: save tickers and articles to revisit later.
  • Export: download your data any time — choose what to include.
  • Portfolio journaling: inside each portfolio, keep a rich-text journal for your ideas and thesis: flip through pages, scan a side panel of page thumbnails, and edit with a full editor.

Start here

  1. Create your account, then link Cloud Sync (required for full access).
  2. From the site, click Open Web App to launch Noctara.
  3. Create your first portfolio and add a few positions.
  4. Search tickers, open news, and set notifications for a small set of tickers on this device.
